Repairing the BenQ PE7700 DLP Projector
While the PE7700 projector had much trouble with premature lamp failure initially, BenQ did eventually get the issue resolved with a firmware update which apparently changed the fan speed. Despite the issues, the projector had superior picture and user interface/remote to any thing else in the same price range at the time of it's original release.
I have created a disassembly guide to replace the fans in my projector. You can find it HERE.

hello,I have read your report on the PE7700.
I also have a PE7700 with defective color wheel.
May I fagen where you've bought a new wheel? Germany at BenQ, I can not buy it to send without the projector.

Hello, Many thanks for this useful support. I'm currently proceeding by myself to the replacement of the color wheel. My local service center was not able to find a provider. It seems that BenQ cannot deliver anymore, only 5 years after purchase !!
First, if you need a provider for color wheel, I've found only from China. It arrives recently with a lot of delay due to Chinese New Year's holiday, and probably because I ask for PayPal wherefore they cannot check automatically for payment. Just use Google : "color wheel benq pe-7700".
Now I've to finish the reassembly. And I face a major issue.
I need some help about the connexion of the remote sensor from the lens cover. Is it connected
1. on the main board near to the main connexion to the command board from the top cover,
2. directly to the command board ?
In the second case, is there any other connexion between the command board on the top cover and the main board ? If this is the case, I think the service center forgot to deliver it back ...
